Malibu (Cottontail Ranch) 2008
This year we begin our 24th summer of running. In the last three years 30 of the teams and individuals that attended camp won their state meet and 8 coaches were recognized as "Coach of the Year." The Malibu Cottontail Ranch camp features an incredible college experience, excellent running on and off the campus, plus at Zuma State Beach, a beach day, plenty of recreation and a very personal camp atmosphere. August 3-8, 2008.
Program:
Each of the four camps will offer the same standardized running
program:
"dynamic warm up routine"
5 workouts that explore different types (and purposes) of running
4 afternoon workouts (athletes broken into four groups) During
the week they will rotate through (spending one hour on) - pool
running drills with Aquajoggers, form work, race strategies, and
video analysis.
8 clinics covering key training and racing elements
4 optional advanced clinics - open to all runners

Steve Scott - Former American record holder in the mile (3:47.69) and has run the 1500 meters in 3:31.76. Steve has broken the 4:00 mile - 136 times, the most in the world! His 5K time of 13:30 was the old World Record. Steve is currently the Cross Country and Track coach of Cal State University San Marcos. Steve, a Four-time Olympian is one of the most exciting runners / clinicians you will ever meet. |

Mike Erb Marquette University (former Redlands University Coach) In just three seasons with the Bulldogs, Mike has resurrected the Cross Country and Track and Field programs. During his tenure, he has coached 31 All-Conference, 2 Conference Champions, 4 All-Region, and 1 National Qualifying athletes. Most recently, his Women's Cross Country program finished second at the SCIAC Championship, the highest finish ever in the history of the program. A graduate of Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, Erb was a four-year letterman for the Gators, captaining the NCAC Champions his senior year. He was a two-time NCAC champion in the triple jump and was also named All-Conference in the decathlon. Mike will be working at our Malibu and Idyllwild camps. |

Coach Glenn is back for his second year on the Runners Workshop staff with over twenty years of running, racing and coaching experience. He is an award winning Duathelete (Running and Cycling races) as well as an experienced ultra distance runner. In 2004, he won the Malibu Scramble Adventure Race with the first place time of 17 hours and 23 minutes. Coach Glenn is passionate about running and hopes to teach the same passion to his athletes. |

Devon Elizondo - is entering his 10th year coaching at Brentwood High School. His boys have qulaified for the State Meet in 6 of the last 7 years with 5 top 10 finishes and a best of placing 3rd in 2001. His girls have reached the State Meet 3 times including the Individual State Champion in 2003. Elizondo, a standout in XC and T/F at UCLA, competed at every major championship for the Bruins. As a prep athlete at Mission Bay HS in San Diego, Devon led his team to 2 San Diego Section titles and to 4 State Meet appearances making the All State team in both his Junior and Senior years and helping the Buccaneers to both a State Championship and Runner up. As a senior Devon was the individual CIF Champion and the Division II Individual Runner up. |
| Mark Celestin founded Runner's Workshop in 1985, and will direct his 72nd camp in the past 22 years. Mark coached at Los Alamitos High School for 10 years and was selected as Orange County Coach of the Year in 1989, and Orange County Teacher of the Year Finalist in 1999. Mark was a 1:51.2 800-meter runner and mile relay national qualifier at U.C. Irvine. | ![]() |
Recreation includes pool, beach day, basketball, soccer,
volleyball, frisbee ultimate, possibly archery, camp olympics and
more! Each evening features a different theme night activity -
campfire, casino / carnivall night, talent night, 50's music and
trivia night, and dance.
