Steve
Scott - American record holder in the
mile (3:47.69) and has run the 1500
meters in 3:31.76. Steve has broken the
4:00 mile - 136 times, the most in the
world! His 5K time of 13:30 was the old
World Record. Steve is currently the
Cross Country and Track coach of Cal
State University San Marcos. Steve, a
Four-time Olympian. |

Mike
Erb coaches at Marquette
University and is the former Head
Coach at the University of
Redlands. In just three
seasons with the Bulldogs, Mike
has resurrected the Cross Country
and Track and Field
programs. During his
tenure, he has coached 31
All-Conference, 2 Conference
Champions, 4 All-Region, and 1
National Qualifying
athletes. Most recently,
his Women's Cross Country program
finished second at the SCIAC
Championship, the highest finish
ever in the history of the
program. A graduate of Allegheny
College in Pennsylvania, Erb was
a four-year letterman for the
Gators, captaining the NCAC
Champions his senior year. He was
a two-time NCAC champion in the
triple jump and was also named
All-Conference in the decathlon.
Mike will be working at our
Malibu and Idyllwild camps.

Helen
Lehman-Winters is the University of San
Francisco X/C and T/F coach. Helen has
spent the last 3 season working with the
NCAA finalist UCLA. From 1989-2000 Helen
built Carondelet High School, XC into a
state powerhouse. Her cross country team
posted a 78-4 record, while her track
squad registered an 81-1 dual meet slate.
Lehman-Winters 1996 team captured the CIF
State Championships and guided Kristen
Gordon ot the Footlocker National
Championship individual title. The
following year, Carondelet's distance
medley relay program won the 1997
National High School Indoor Championship.

Ken Reeves is one of
California's all time winningest high
school coaches. His teams at Nordhoff
High School captured 12 State
Championships and Reeves coached 5
Footlocker National Finalist. He was
twice named California Coach of the Year.
Ken brings his success and enthusiasm to
the Tahoe camp again this summer. |

Coach Brent Thorne has been
coaching some twenty two years, eighteen
at Torrey Pines HS as head cross country
and track coch. In that time the cross
country team has gone from 22 members in
1988 to 90 this past few years. Coach
Thorne abd the TPHS Falcon boys have won
6 league titles, 5 CIF Div 1 titles (now
three in a row) and finished as high as
7th at the State Meet 2002 and 2003. The
girls suad has won 9 league titles and 2
CIF titles, runner up 3 times with 8
state meet apearances with a top finish
of 3rd in 1998. Always looking for ways
to improve his coaching he plans to coach
several more years at Torrey Pines. Brent
will be coaching at our Idyllwild camp.

Devon Elizondo - is entering his 10th
year coaching at Brentwood High School.
His boys have qulaified for the State
Meet in 6 of the last 7 years with 5 top
10 finishes and a best of placing 3rd in
2001. His girls have reached the State
Meet 3 times including the Individual
State Champion in 2003. Elizondo, a
standout in XC and T/F at UCLA, competed
at every major championship for the
Bruins. As a prep athlete at Mission Bay
HS in San Diego, Devon led his team to 2
San Diego Section titles and to 4 State
Meet appearances making the All State
team in both his Junior and Senior years
and helping the Buccaneers to both a
State Championship and Runner up. As a
senior Devon was the individual CIF
Champion and the Division II Individual
Runner up.

Coach Glenn is back for his second year
on the Runners Workshop staff with over
twenty years of running, racing and
coaching experience. He is an award
winning Duathelete (Running and Cycling
races) as well as an experienced ultra
distance runner. In 2004, he won the
Malibu Scramble Adventure Race with the
first place time of 17 hours and 23
minutes. Coach Glenn is passionate about
running and hopes to teach the same
passion to his athletes. |

Manny
Bautista - Due to this being an Olympic
year coach Bautista will be a bit busy
helping the team. We hope to see him next
year. Manny has been a top collegiate
coach for the past 20 years at Mesa,
Grossmont, Kansas State, and Cal Poly
SLO. He is a 9 time recipient of the PCC
Coach of the Year honors and has been
recognized 3 times as a California Coach
of the Year. Manny's teams have won 4
State Championships. Manny is a 4 time
USA National Team coach, 1996 Olympic
Site Supervisor and is the 2003 USA Pan
American team coach. Manny was also an
All American runner and1984 Olypic Trails
qualifier. Manny brings great
international coaching experience to our
program. |

Tim
O'Rourke - former coach at Arroyo High
School--National Champions in 1987, State
Champions in 1986 & 1987, ranked in
the top ten in the state 11 times, and an
overall dual meet record of 323 and
9. Tim is now the meet director for
the Mt. Sac track and cross country
invitationals and Footlocker Western
Regional. Tim, one of California's most
sought after speakers is truly
inspirational speakers. He will be busy
this summer and hopes to be back next
summer. |
Past guest
speakers include world class runners 10,000 meter
record holder Mebrahtom Keflezghi, Mark Plaatjes
(World Champion Marathoner), Bruce Jenner
(Olympic Gold Medal Decathlon), Ruth Wysocki
(World Masters record holder), Bob Messina, Bob
Larson, Eric Peterson (all UCLA coaches), Larry
Knuth (former USC), Vince O'Boyle (UCI). Each
year the workshop invites top collegiate and prep
coaches such as Joe Kelly (Peninsula H.S.), Jack
Farrell (Thousand Oaks H.S.), Jim Clemdaniel
(Yucaipa H.S.), Tim Butler (Dana Hills H.S.),
Beth Neidnagel (UCLA All-American and Dana Hills
Coach) and others to speak at the camps.
The counselors are all collegiate
athletes. This summer we have 3 Sub 4:00
milers on our staff - Steve Scott
(3:47), AJ Acosta (Oregon 3:58), David Torrance
(Cal 3:58). Past couselors include Mebrahtom
Keflezighi, Olympic Silver Medalist and American
10,000 meter record holder, and Karen Hecox (NCAA
Champions), along with State Champions Kira
Jorgensen, Coley Candaele, Francis O'Neill, and
Shelly Taylor. Athletes such as these lead your
runners through their workouts and recreational
activities.
